MODULAW(TM)
Insurance is INSLAW's comprehensive client/server case management
software product for insurance claims litigation and staff counsel
departments.
MODULAW
tracks the litigation of claims arising from both the personal and
the commercial lines of business. These include high volume cases
such as automobile and workers compensation suits, as well as complex
and protracted cases such as commercial and environmental liability
cases.
The
system is also used to control internal and outside counsel costs,
schedule events, track parties, index and retrieve work product
and documents, create budgets, monitor expenses, make assignments
and record attorney time, and produce management reports.
MODULAW
Insurance is used by many of the nation's leading carriers. The
system combines extensive tracking functions with powerful searching
capabilities, automatically summarizing detailed information to
address a range of reporting requirements.
Because
MODULAW Insurance is designed specifically for insurance claims
litigation, it can be implemented as an off-the-shelf solution.
MODULAW can also be customized to address a company's own data and
workflow needs using INSLAW's advanced application development tools.

Insurance Components:
Claims
and Litigation Tracking
This component of MODULAW monitors the status of a case or claim,
from initiation through disposition. It provides access to case-related
information, including claim identifiers, claimant names, policy
information, and names of insured parties. The system also tracks
workers compensation and subrogated claims, and allows for the setting
and maintaining of reserves.

Party and Party Counsel Tracking follows individuals and entities
associated with a case, and their counsel. Multiple litigants,
claimants, insureds, and witnesses can be tracked and a history
of settlement negotiations can be maintained by recording offers
and demands. Extensive information on injuries sustained and dam-ages
sought can also be captured in the system.
Event
Tracking
This function of MODULAW monitors the status of a case by tracking
past and future actions.

Calendar and To-Do List tracks scheduled actions regarding cases
and staff

Scheduling allows for automatic calendaring of future events based
on office, account, corporate, and jurisdic-tional rules

Staff
and Referral Management
This component of MODULAW tracks all individuals and firms involved
in the handling of a case. Assignment of internal attorneys and
staff, as well as outside firms, may be monitored throughout the
life of a case.

Attorney and Staff Assignments function tracks internal assignments
to individual cases. Multiple assignments can be made to a single
case; automated transfer processing allows reassignments between
attorneys or offices, when necessary

Staff Bank collects detailed information on individual attorneys
and staff members, ranging from basic address data to detailed
employment and education profiles

Outside Counsel and Vendor Referral portion of the system tracks
law firms, expert witnesses, and other service providers who are
retained in cases. Multiple referrals may be tracked for a single
case

Outside Counsel Bank and Service Provider Bank capture detailed
background information on outside firms and vendors, including
the names of individual attorneys or staff. Data collected does
not need to be re-entered for each referral

Financial
Management
This component of MODULAW provides management with a tool for monitoring
and controlling legal costs. Budgets can be created for individual
cases through the

Budgeting capability creates budgets for individual cases. By
using ABA task codes, actual vs. projected costs can be evaluated
and monitored for each case.

Timekeeping and Expense Tracking function tracks internal time
and expenses incurred while handling a case

Invoice Tracking portion of the system tracks fees and expenses
billed by outside entities retained to handle cases.

Billing capability generates periodic bills detailing time spent
and expenses incurred on individual cases. Bills can be produced
based on time and expense entries made within a specified billing
period. The system can also accommodate alternative billing arrangements,
such as flat rates, maximum fees, and contingency fees.
Document
Control
MODULAW helps to manage and track an office's work product, files,
and other documents.

Document Bank feature stores information on documents that have
historical value, whether or not they are case-related. The system
can also interface with complementary packages, such as word processing,
document management, imaging, and document assembly software.

Records Management capability of MODULAW records information about
physical files, including their contents and movement throughout
an office. The system can also flag files for storage.
