CJIS for Courts tracks any type of juvenile case, from initiation
to disposition. Access to these cases can be restricted to authorized
users by the CJIS security subsystem. CJIS for Courts tracks complete
information about the juvenile, including charges, legal status,
bond and security/depositor data, defense attorneys, prosecutors,
evidence and exhibits, dispositions, sentences and appeals. On inquiry,
CJIS for Courts summarizes the activity in a case, displaying the
current status, the date and nature of the last event in the case
and the date and nature of the next scheduled event.
CJIS
Juvenile Case Management Components:
Juvenile
Tracking
Each juvenile offender is assigned a unique person I.D. number that
is linked to a complete file of information for that juvenile. This
includes physical descriptors, aliases, prior arrests and/or convictions,
known associates, addresses, and family background. Because a juvenile
can have multiple pending cases, his or her pre-trial status for
one case can be affected by any of the cases. For this reason, the
unique person I.D. connects to a person record that reflects the
latest pre-trial status of the juvenile across all pending cases
for the individual. The system automatically summarizes the complete
activity for the juvenile across his or her active and disposed
cases, including active warrants, monies due under each case, and
current custody location.
Docketing/Scheduling
CJIS for Courts records all past and future scheduled events. This
information can be sorted on-line by courtroom, judge, date, and/or
range of dates. Additionally, hard copy calendars can be produced
in a user-defined format.
A
Rules-based Scheduling feature is available in the client/server
version that permits automatic calendaring of future events on the
basis of department, organization, and jurisdictional rules. Calendar
rules are maintained in user-defined tables, that can be updated
as needed.

Collections
Tracking
CJIS for Courts tracks all monies due and paid and the distribution
of the money among the designated funds. This collections subsystem
automatically maintains totals for monies owed by a person across
all of his/her cases, and can produce receipts, checks and collection
letters.
Warrant
Generation
CJIS for Courts tracks warrants and their status. Warrant records
can be created automatically based on information entered for the
juvenile case. Moreover, a hard copy of the warrant can be generated
and directed to a printer at any location.
Speedy
Trial Date Calculation
CJIS for Courts can track a speedy trial date for a juvenile case.
An excluded time record contains information regarding events that
affect the speedy trial date. CJIS for Courts automatically recalculates
the maximum trial date, after considering excluded time.
